TaxPicks is a static website. It has no user accounts, no login, no newsletter and no contact form. The short version: we do not want your data and we have built the site so that we mostly cannot collect it.
Your tax figures never leave your browser
Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your own browser as JavaScript. Income, deductions, dependents, withholding and every other figure you type stay on your device. Nothing is transmitted to us, nothing is written to a server, and we could not retrieve it if we wanted to. The document checklist saves your ticks in your browser's local storage, on your device only, and clearing your browser data removes them.
What is collected
- Server logs. Our web host records standard access logs: IP address, timestamp, page requested, referrer and user agent. These are used for security and to diagnose problems.
- Analytics. This site currently runs no analytics or tracking scripts of its own.
- Theme preference. Your light or dark mode choice is stored in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device.
Third parties
- Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap servers when you view a map, which means those servers see your IP address and the tiles you request.
- Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which likewise sees a request from your browser.
- Advertisers. If you click an advertising link, you leave this site and the advertiser's own privacy policy and cookies apply. Our redirect step does not set a cookie of ours or profile you. See the advertising disclosure.
What we never do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not ask for, receive or store Social Security numbers, tax documents or financial account details.
- We do not build advertising profiles of visitors.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Your choices
You can block cookies and scripts in your browser, use tracking protection, or install an ad blocker, and this site will continue to work. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete personal information a company holds about you. Because we hold essentially none beyond server logs, such a request is usually answered by pointing at this page, but write to us and we will respond.
